Gravity Internet – Network Operations Centre

We have experienced some minor problems on one of our core routers (the-r01) over the last couple of days so in order to eliminate any further service disruptions, we will be replacing the hardware this evening. This will affect some of our DSL and Ethernet customers.

Maintenance Window: Thursday 1st Oct Feb 0000-0600 (BST)

Activity: Replacement of the Cisco 7600 core router the-r01.

Customer Impact: Customers should anticipate as much as 1 to 2 hours outage during this time.

Report: Hardware replaced with no problems. Services resumed at 0258 after 51 mins downtime.

We apologise for the inconvenience that this will cause and wish to reassure you that any downtime will be kept to a minimum.

We have added a new page on our Technical Support website to show how to check the attenuation and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) information on broadband routers. These details are important to determine the performance of the DSL service.

1130 – We have been informed of a loss of connectivity in the Kingston BT exchange. Kingston serves as an aggregation point for DSL services in the surrounding areas. Engineers are on their way to site.

1530 – Engineers have established that the fault is due to a broken fibre. The fibre has been replaced with a temporary patch to restore service. We can confirm that all our affected xDSL users have service restored.

1730 – The temporary fibre patch has now been replaced with a permanant fix, all affected services are now operational as normal.

We are palnning some scheduled hardware maintenance. The details of this maintenance are below.

Maintenance Window: Wednesday 4th Feb 0100-0400 (GMT)

Activity: Upgrade of Ethernet switches in our racks to activate new firmware patch.

Customer Impact: Customers should anticipate as much as 15 to 30 minutes of downtime.

Report: All Ethernet switches updraged successfully. Total downtime was only 10 mins.

Maintenance Window: Thursday 7th June 2007  0000 – 0100 (BST)

Report: Planned upgrade of Cisco core routers completed successfully. Total outage was 50 mins.

Maintenance Window: Sunday 25th March 2007  0800 – 1000 (BST)

Report: Planned upgrade of power feeds and distribution within Telehouse racks completed successfully. Total outage was 1hr 45 mins.
